An admirer of music as much as art, Jim's photography is influenced by early painters and jazz photographers who excelled at creating contrast with a single light source. His art is also influenced by street photographers who skillfully depicted human conditions and relationships in public places. Amazed by the behavior of light and contrast, Jim continuously strives to photograph the effects they create, especially in black and white.

Jim enjoys wandering streets, alleys, and public buildings in towns and cities, looking for opportunities to photograph. His subjects are often people in their environments.
